Today at approximately 5:00pm EST, grades closed for the first quarter at the middle school. I have now officially survived 25% of my first year of teaching.
*Sigh of relief**
Unfortunately, more for me than for my students, we are a bit behind in the way of the curriculum map for 8th Grade English/Language Arts. However, I can see the light at the end of the horrid tunnel that is our memoir unit, and anxiously anticipate my first stack of final drafts of student writing to correct on November 16th!
It should be dually noted that I am anxiously anticipating the end of this unit as it feels as though it has dragged on forever.
Up next on the agenda: Persuasive Writing! This one promises to be much more interesting... or at least have more room for creativity and practical applications in the "real world" that I am supposed to be preparing them for...
